Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself? How did you get into writing?
I've always loved writing and had the dream of writing a book for a long time, but "life", i.e. work and everything else, always got in the way. At some point I had a phase in my life where I had little money. Too little to finance my addiction to new reading material every week, but I had a lot of time. So I started writing my first book.
What genre are you "at home" in?
I started with a crossover of romance and fantasy - the dragon novel series. This was followed by the Rocky Mountain series, which is still going strong. The books in this series are a mixture of love story and thriller.
What is particularly important to you in your books?
People and the relationships they have with each other. Sure, I write love stories. But the interpersonal relationships between all the other protagonists are at least as important to me.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I have a very overactive imagination. Coupled with good powers of observation, the stories arise in my head all by themselves. I have more of a problem that I don't have enough time to write them all down.
What does your daily writing routine look like?
I need a double espresso and chocolate before I can get started. Sometimes on my treadmill, but mostly in a Starbucks café near me.
Do you use any special writing programs?
I don't use a special writing program, I write in Word.
Do you plan your stories down to the last detail or do they develop over time?
It varies, but I usually have a rough outline: Main characters, introduction, main part and conflict as well as an approximate ending. Everything else develops during the writing process.
Almost all of your books have become bestsellers. Do you have a secret of success?
With the first book, there was certainly a bit of luck involved. I was kdp for the first year, which was certainly an advantage. And since then it's primarily been hard work. It's worth publishing in a tight rhythm, the readers thank you for that.
What is the biggest advantage of self-publishing for you?
I can decide everything myself. From the title of the book to the content, the cover and the advertising. This way of working suits me very well. I also don't see myself exclusively as an author, but as an entrepreneur.
You publish your books through the book distributor Nova MD. What do you like so much about it?
Through Nova MD, my printed books can be ordered in all bookshops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Nova MD team is there to help and advise me without me having to give up my independence.
Your most important tip for self-publishers or young authors?
A high publication rate, researching tips and tricks on the Internet, including on the American market, and putting them into practice.
How can you improve as an author?
Read. Always. Everywhere. Everything you can get your hands on. That's the most important thing in my eyes.
What's your favorite way to advertise?
Book promotion is a very, very difficult chapter. I stay in direct contact with my readers via social media. Sometimes I advertise directly on Amazon, since this option has been available, or sometimes on Facebook.
