The disadvantages:
- Amazon earns between 30 and 65% of your sales
- High quality book printing is unfortunately never guaranteed
- Amazon can only print in four colors, which means the printing price can be very high
- Sample and author copies are subject to a charge
- Due to possible exclusivity rights, you cannot offer your book in other stores (find out more about the KDP Select process)

- If you also register with KDP Select, you can earn a lot of money via the Kindle lending library
- Authors can create a free author page via "Amazon Author Central"
- The Print On Demand process is good for the environment, as your book is only printed when an order is placed
